Features of electric fireplace

Other than flames and heat, electric fireplaces have a plethora of features. Among these features are:
Colors added to the flames. Do you want to switch from natural orange flames to blue or violet flames? Many electric fireplaces are capable of this, but not all. If you want this feature, make sure it's available on the unit you want.
Colored lighting from beneath the ember bed or above the flames. In addition to the flames, most electric fireplaces now have at least one series of accent lights.
Variable flame size or speed. If you prefer fast and flickering flames or slow and mesmerizing flames, some electric fireplaces allow you to change the settings.
Are you afraid of falling asleep in front of the fireplace and forgetting to turn it off? Many electric fireplaces have timers that let you set the shutoff time for up to 12 hours in advance.
Thermostat integrated. If you intend to use your electric fireplace as supplemental heat, you must be able to set a specific temperature on the heater. This way, the fireplace, like your furnace, will turn on and off the heater to regulate the room temperature. Otherwise, the heater will run at either a low (750 watts) or high (1500 watts) setting until you turn it off.
