What size electric fireplace do you need?
Apr 03, 2023
The size of the burner does not affect the heat output of an electric fireplace. It's all about aesthetics when we think about the best size for an electric fireplace. We consider which one will appear the most balanced in the location where you want to install it. We begin with the size of the wall and the overall size of the room. A larger fireplace is required for a larger wall. Similarly, a larger room necessitates a larger fireplace.
Clients will occasionally consider installing a small fireplace on a small wall within a larger room. This could be a section of the wall between two windows or two doors, for example. Our recommendation is to look for a larger location for the fireplace. Otherwise, the fireplace will appear too small in the room, even if it is the correct size for that particular section of the wall.
Another critical factor to consider is whether or not a TV will be installed above the fireplace. If this is the case, the size of the television must be balanced by the size of the fireplace. The fireplace should be at least as big as the television above it. When determining how to match the fireplace to the TV size, keep in mind that the TV is measured diagonally, whereas the fireplace is measured in actual width. A 65-inch TV's actual width is around 56 - 58 inches; a 60-inch fireplace is the minimum size to have below this TV size. If wall space allows, you could go up to a 74-inch fireplace for an even more balanced look. Because the new linear fireplace models are much shorter than the TVs, we prefer a little extra width on the fireplace to prevent the TV above from appearing top-heavy. Here's a general rule of thumb for matching TV size to minimum fireplace size:
55-inch TV = 50-inch fireplace
65-inch TV = 60-inch fireplace
75-inch TV = 74-inch fireplace
