Electric fireplace safety tips

Electric fireplaces are easy to install and use, and they don't require much maintenance. However, there are a few things to keep in mind.
The problems that are likely to arise with electric fireplaces are similar to those that occur with other electrical appliances. Here are some safety tips for electric fireplaces:
Examine for a safety mark; all new electric fireplaces should have one.
Examine the wiring for signs of wear or fraying - Check all connections (to the plug, the back of the fire, and so on) to ensure nothing is damaged. Examine the socket for scorch marks as well.
Don't overload plug sockets - Attempting to plug too many appliances into one socket is never a good idea. We recommend not using an adaptor or extension lead and instead plugging directly into the wall.
Never use a timer plug - While some electric fireplaces have built-in timers that are safe to use, timer plugs such as plugin adapters, auto timers, and IoT timers should never be used with electric fireplaces.
Unplug when not in use - This is not only good for the environment and your energy bills, but it is also safer.
In an emergency, pull out the plug or switch off only if it is safe to do so, do not throw water on it, and do not take any risks.
